You can’t have any Christmas indie song type thing without including , can you? Well I suppose that you could, but then you’d be an idiot. ‘Just Like Christmas’ is hands down one of the classic ‘indie’ Christmas songs. It’s just the perfect example of how a Christmas song can be festive while not causing one to vomit in their own mouth at the same time. Which, if we’re honest, is what most ‘traditional’ songs can cause.

Like Yo La Tengo yesterday, it isn’t the most complex of songs, and doesn’t even say anything beyond “It was just like Christmas” once you get past the first minute or so. But by god, does it sound like Christmas. Beautiful vocals, bombastic drums and sleigh bells that never let up. It’s the perfect cheerful song that’s exactly what a Christmas song should be like. If you can’t picture running around in the snow with this as the soundtrack, you’re dead inside.
