The Very Most love summer, sun, and all that horrid stuff

You’re In Love With The Sun is taken from an EP called Summer. As someone who hates the summer and despises sunshine even more, this should have been a hard sell for me from the start. Thankfully I remembered some of the previous things The Very Most have done and gave it a chance. It’s good that I did to as it turns out to be a thing of beauty.
The song is certainly a step up from those previous works too. Far more care and attention has seemingly gone into this, allowing harmonies to flourish and every element it’s chance to shine. Yes, it is summery, but there does still seem to be a melancholy tone lingering underneath, if not in the words. A song this light and airy would usually manage to put me off, but somehow the band make the very most out of it, resulting in something delightful.
Still, I certainly look forward to to You’re In Love With The Snow on the Winter EP.
Summer is out now on Indiecater Records.
The Very Most – Good Fight Fighting

It’s been a little while since I’ve posted some new indie pop on here, so it’s time to make up for that in the form of The Very Most. Sounding like they have arrived late from the late 1990s (you know, when Belle & Sebastian were still good), we’ve got jangly guitars and quaint vocals to make a perfect three minute gem.
Best of all, the band are currently offering to write and record a personal song for every single person that buys their album through their website. I’m tempted to get one just to have them compose a theme for this blog.
